A question in: I want to purchase a 9mm
What's better - Bereta 92FS Centurion, or Glock 17

Israel, welcome to Haslik. There's no easy way of answering your question - are you looking for a weapon to carry concealed, shoot competition with, how much time do you have for cleaning it, etc.? Do you live locally on a regular basis? Do you intend to volunteer in the Civil Guard with it, etc.? Are you accustomed to carrying a round in the chamber? These questions all require answering.

The folks I correspond with in the USA tend to use the 92FS for range work whereas the G17 gets carried more.

Comparing the two guns, the G17 is superior in ammunition capacity, carryability (weight and size), rust-free finish and simplicity. Glocks are also considered trendy in Israel, and seem to have more accessories available for them than most service pistols. The 92FS has the best looks of any handgun known to man, and is known to have a very nice trigger (when firing single action). If you lived in the USA, it would be easier to get standard capacity magazines for the 92FS than for the G17 at a reasonable price. I guess it's a matter of individual taste.

Another questions is whether you have narrowed your choice down to these two guns, or would consider other models - there are many good guns available to civilians.

If you are ever near 53 Herzl Street in Netanya from 09:00 to 19:00, the city range in the basement of the building will be delighted to let you feel out both guns - I believe they have a 92FS on display, and there is almost always a G17 hanging around there too.

אם ההתחבטות היא בין שני האקדחים שציינת בלבד, לא הייתי חושב פעמיים והולך על הגלוק, אתה מכיר אותו (לפחות לפי המודעה שפרסמת ב"אזור הסחר החופשי) ולדעתי האקדח עצמו טוב ממספר סיבות.
אם אתה לא נעול על אחד מהשניים, ישנם הרבה אקדחים בשוק וחלקם עולה באיכות הכלי ובהנאה שבירי עמם (ואני מניח שכאן פתחתי פתח למלחמת אזרחים קטנה באתר).

Thanks for the prompt responses and the rich information, Hebrew is my language but years of emails have made me prefer English for email

Two significant arguments of mine is the need for a round in the chamber, such that I can shoot with one hand if the other is occupied, also I respect very much the USA Army tests and choice

In fact I got a SIG 226, excellent and above, but I got tired of .45 and I want to sell my G21 in order to purchase another excellent 9mm

נשיאת כדור בקנה? באיזה מצב?
האם המצב אליו אתה רגיל הוא הדאבל-אקשן של הזיג? או דווקא הגלוק, שתנועה עימו עם כדור בקנה לדעתי הינה הפחות בטוחה משאר השיטות, מכיוון והיא אינה מגינה על האקדח מלחיצה מקרית על ההדק, אלא מבטיחה מפני פליטת כדור כתוצאה מנפילה או חבטה בלבד, או למצב 1 (Cocked & Locked) שבאקדח סינגל אקשן נצור (או אקדח דאבל-אקשן המאפשר נצירה עם פטיש דרוך לאחור).

תנועה עם כדור בקנה בצורה קבועה מחייבת אימון ותרגול, טכני ומנטלי וללא כל ספק, אינה מתאימה לכל סוג אקדח, גם אם במוצהרהוא מיועד לכך.

מכיוון שלא יסלחו לי כאן, בכוונה לא ציינתי את האקדח הטוב והמתאים ביותר לתנועה עם כדור בקנה.

על מה אתה מסכים? על זה שלא יסלחו לי או שיש אקדח מתאים ביותר לנושא, אך לא הזכרתי אותו.

בקריאה שניה של הודעתך, שמתי לב שלא התייחסתי לנקודה נוספת, כבר כמה שנים שיש מחליף ל-92 בצבא ארה"ב, היה כדאי להתעדכן בנושא... :wink:

כפי שאתה בוודאי יודע, האמריקאים לא מחליפים, אלא מוסיפים דגם נוסף (לכן מעבר לברטה ישנם עדיין עשרות אלפי דגמי 1911 הנמצאים עדיין בשרות), לקבוצה הצטרף ה-MK23, הידוע בכינויו USSOCOM מתוצרת HK.
והנה הוא בתמונה שצילם ידידי השרקן בתערוכת ה-SHOTSHOW בשנה שעבה, כשהוא מצוייד בעמעם מקורי.
