אני בטוח שהתוכנה מותקנת לך כבר על המחשב.
קוראים לה Windows XP.
כשאתה מחבר את המצלמה אל המחשב, בעזרת כבל FireWire (אם אין לך כניסה כזאת על המחשב, כרטיס מתאים אמור לעלות לא יותר מ-100 ש"ח), יעלה חלון שישאל אותך אם אתה מעוניין להעתיק את החומר מהמצלמה אל המחשב, רק תגיד לו "כן".
לגבי העריכה, גם כאן מצוייד ה-XP בתוכנה בסיסית ויעילה, ה-Movie Editor של מיקרוסופט. המלצתי, לך להוריד את גרסתה המעודכנת מ-Microsoft Dwonloads (בחינם) ותהנה מיכולות עריכה ואפקטים בסיסיים שיספקו את רוב העורכים הביתיים.
בשלב הבא, תמיד יש לאן להתקדם, אבל אני בטוח שזה יספק אותך.

I personally use the following setup as well. I am trasnfering all my miniDV content from my camcorder to my notebook (HP NC6000, 1.7GHz Pentium M, 768MB).
Well, there is an automatic way as Webart mentioned, either with Movie Maker or other tools (Ulead DVD Movie Factory,...), or there is a manual way that gives you more control. It is important to mention, that MPEG encoder is one of the most important parts of the process, since it affects the final output.
For transfer, I use a free small software called WinDV 1.2.3 that you can get here: http://windv.mourek.cz
The software is very small (92K) and is simple. It has an important feature to save every scene in a separate file (I will explain later why this is good), and also too see if any frames are lost.
I am setting a treshhold to 4seconds, so every scene longer then 4 sec is saved in a separate file.
When all my content is transfered, I use a video editing software (like Ulead Video Studio) where I stich all the files, after I mark what I do not need (mostly beggining and end of the scenes).
After that, when I have one single (gib) AVI file, I run the encoder (TPMG), where I set different quality settings. I am using VBR (variable bit rate), in order to save space, but the encoding takes longer. Example: by using CBR (constant bit rate), with highest quality setting (8Mb), you can put only 1 hour on a DVD.
By tweaking the quality (but not visibly loosing it), you can add much more content to a single layer DVD... even 2.5 hours.
Of course, you can save even more space, by compressing audio to AC3 stereo, instead of PCM that comes as non-compressed.
After this, I got 2 (depending on the settings) files. One is audio mpeg and one is video mpeg.
After this, I use DVD authoring tool (TPMG) to build the DVD content with menus. An output of this software you can burn directly to DVD.
Does this all make any sense to you?
